What we do with your information when you ask us to find or fund a car, who else gets to see it, how long we keep it and what you can tell us to do about it.

Last updated 28 October 2026

The short version

  • We only ask for what we need to find you a car or introduce you for finance. There is no mailing list and no tick-box buried on this site.
  • If you want finance, your details go to Jigsaw Finance Limited, who are the credit broker and who approach lenders on your behalf. That part is the point of the service, and it is the one place your details travel furthest.
  • If you want us to source a car, we tell dealers and trade suppliers what you are looking for. We do not have to tell them who you are to do that.
  • This website runs no analytics, no advertising pixels and no third-party scripts of any kind. Nobody is watching you read it.
  • You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email aventautomotive@outlook.com.

1. Who we are

Avent Automotive Limited is the data controller for the information described on this page. That means we are the ones responsible for it, and the ones you can hold to account for it.

Registered name
Avent Automotive Limited
Company number
17481840 (England and Wales)
Registered office
55 Langham Close, Bolton, BL1 7RA
Telephone
07713 563335

We are small enough that we are not required to appoint a data protection officer, and we have not appointed one. Any question about this policy goes to the email address above and is answered by us, not by a department.

Avent Automotive Limited is an Introducer Appointed Representative of Jigsaw Finance Limited, who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. FRN 679612. Jigsaw Finance Limited is a credit broker and not a lender. Jigsaw Finance Limited can introduce you to a limited panel of lenders, on a non-advised basis, meaning we cannot give you advice or a recommendation on products. We do not charge you a fee for our service, however we will receive a commission for arranging your vehicle finance. View our full disclosure by reading our Initial Disclosure Document. All finance is subject to status and income, applicants must be 18 or over, terms and conditions apply, and guarantees and indemnities may be required. Registered Office: 55 Langham Close, Bolton, BL1 7RA. Email: aventautomotive@outlook.com. Company registration number: 17481840.

That matters to your privacy as well as to the finance, because it tells you where your information goes. When you ask us about finance we introduce you to Jigsaw Finance Limited; they are the credit broker, they approach the lenders, and from that point they are a data controller in their own right and decide for themselves what they do with your information. Their own privacy policy is at jigsawfinance.com/privacy-policy and it is worth reading, because it is longer than this one and it covers the credit searches.

2. What we collect

When you book an appointment

The booking form on this site asks for your first name, last name, date of birth, telephone number, email address, whether you would rather talk by phone, WhatsApp or video call, and the day and time you have chosen.

Why the date of birth. Finance is regulated lending and starts at eighteen, and a lender genuinely needs the date. For a sourcing appointment there is no lender and no credit check, so there the date is only the over-eighteens rule and nothing more is done with it.

Then, depending on which appointment you book, it asks about the car:

  • Finance. A description of the car you want, your monthly budget, your deposit, whether you are employed, self-employed, retired or something else, how you would describe your own credit history, and whether you have a car to part exchange.
  • Sourcing. A description of the car, the year, mileage and specification you want, your budget, whether you are paying with finance or cash, how soon you need it, whether you have a car to part exchange, and anything else you are weighing up.

The budget, deposit, employment and credit history answers are ranges you pick from a list, not figures you type and not documents you upload. The credit history answer is your own description of your own situation. We do not look at your credit file and we could not: nothing on this site touches a credit reference agency.

When you pick a car on this site

If you turn the wheel of models and press Find me this one, the make and model you chose is carried into the booking form so you do not have to type it again. It is part of your enquiry and nothing else.

When you get in touch another way

If you ring, send a WhatsApp message, email us or message us on Instagram, we have whatever is in that message and whatever your phone or account shows us, such as your number or your profile name. We keep the thread so we can pick the conversation back up.

When you use the website

Our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs, which include the IP address a request came from. We use the IP address for one thing: a limit on how many bookings can be sent from one address in ten minutes, which is what stops the form being flooded. It is held in memory for that window and is not built into a profile of you.

See the cookie policy for the full list of what is stored on your device.

What we never ask for here

This site does not take card or bank details, and it does not take payslips, bank statements, driving licences or passports. If a lender needs any of that later, it is asked for through Jigsaw Finance Limited or the lender themselves, not through this website.

3. Why we use it, and what allows us to

Under the UK GDPR we have to have a lawful basis for everything we do with your information. Ours are these.

What we doWhyLawful basis
Hold your appointment and ring you at the time you pickedIt is the service you asked forContract, or steps taken at your request before one
Search for a car to your specification and negotiate on itIt is the service you asked forContract
Introduce you to Jigsaw Finance Limited so finance can be looked atYou have asked us to arrange financeContract, and your request
Check you are eighteen or overConsumer credit cannot be offered to a minorLegal obligation, and our legitimate interests
Keep a record of what was discussed and agreedTo answer a question or a complaint later, and because the rules on regulated introductions expect records to existLegal obligation and legitimate interests
Limit how often the booking form can be used from one addressTo keep the form working and stop it being abusedLegitimate interests in the security of our own service
Remember what you chose about cookiesSo you are not asked again, and so we can show you chose itLegal obligation under the cookie rules
Measurement or advertising, if you have switched them onOnly if you say yes, and nothing is on by defaultConsent, which you can take back at any time

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have weighed what we want against what you would reasonably expect, and we will tell you how we reached that if you ask. Where we rely on consent, saying no costs you nothing and changes nothing about the service.

4. Who sees your information

If you want finance

Jigsaw Finance Limited (Financial Conduct Authority firm reference number 679612). We pass on what you have told us so they can look at finance for you. They are the credit broker, not us, and they approach a limited panel of lenders. Two things follow from that, and they are worth knowing before you say yes:

  • A lender will normally carry out a credit search, and more than one lender being approached can mean more than one search. Jigsaw Finance Limited explain this in their own policy.
  • Lenders and fraud prevention agencies will hold their own records about the application, under their own privacy policies, for their own periods. We cannot delete those for you, and neither can Jigsaw Finance Limited.

If you want us to source a car

Dealers, main dealer groups, trade suppliers and other sources we buy from, so they can tell us whether they have the car. We give them the brief, not your life story: the make, model, specification and budget are what they need, and they do not need your date of birth. Once you are going ahead on a particular car we will have to give the supplier your name and contact details so the invoice, the paperwork and the handover can happen, and we will tell you when we are at that point.

If a car has to be inspected, transported or delivered, the company doing it is given your name, address and telephone number, because otherwise they cannot find you.

5. Decisions made by a computer

We do not make any decision about you automatically. A person reads every enquiry and a person rings you.

Lenders are different: some of them use automated credit scoring to decide an application. If an application of yours is turned down by a score alone, you are entitled to ask for a human being to look at it again, to be told how the decision was reached and to challenge it. Ask Jigsaw Finance Limited or the lender, and tell us too so we can chase it.

6. Where your information is held

Our own records are held in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Some of the companies above are American or operate globally, so your information may be processed outside the UK. Where it is, the transfer is covered by the UK government's International Data Transfer Agreement, or by the UK Addendum to the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, which are the mechanisms the law provides for exactly this. You can ask us which one applies to a particular company.

7. How long we keep it

WhatHow longWhy that long
An enquiry or appointment that came to nothingTwo years from your last contact with usPeople come back to car buying after a while, and we would rather not make you start again
A finance introduction, whether or not it went aheadSix years after the agreement or the enquiry endsThe period a complaint about a regulated introduction can still be brought and has to be answerable
A car we actually sourced for youSix years after the saleAccounting and tax records, and your rights over the car itself
Email and WhatsApp threadsReviewed yearly and cleared when there is no longer a reason to keep themThey are a working record, not an archive
Your cookie choiceSix months, then we ask againSo a choice made on a borrowed device does not last for ever

When a period runs out the record is deleted. If you ask us to delete something sooner we will, unless one of the periods above is a legal reason we have to keep it, in which case we will tell you which one and when it ends.

8. Keeping it safe

The site is served only over HTTPS and declines to load anything from anywhere else. The staff area is behind a passcode and a signed, expiring session, and the passcode itself is never stored in the browser. Access to bookings is limited to the people who have to ring you. We will not ask you for a password, a PIN or card details by email, by text or on the phone, and if somebody claiming to be us does, it is not us.

Nothing sent over the internet can be guaranteed, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. If something does go wrong with your information and it is likely to be a risk to you, we will tell you, and we will tell the Information Commissioner's Office within seventy-two hours as the law requires.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Show you what we hold about you, and a copy of it.
  • Correct it if it is wrong or out of date.
  • Delete it, where we have no overriding reason to keep it.
  • Stop or limit what we do with it while a disagreement is sorted out.
  • Object to anything we do on the basis of our legitimate interests.
  • Hand it over to you or to somebody else in a form a computer can read, where we hold it on the basis of your consent or a contract.
  • Take back your consent to anything you consented to, at any time, without having to explain why.

Email aventautomotive@outlook.com or ring 07713 563335. It is free. We answer within one month, and if what you have asked for is complicated enough to need longer we will tell you inside that month and explain why. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, which is a protection for you and not an obstacle.

Some of these rights do not apply in every situation. If we cannot do what you have asked, we will say so plainly and tell you the reason rather than simply not reply.

10. If you are not happy

Tell us first, at aventautomotive@outlook.com. We would far rather fix it ourselves.

You do not have to come to us first, though, and you never lose the right to go straight to the regulator. The Information Commissioner's Office is the UK's supervisory authority for data protection:

Telephone
0303 123 1113
Post
Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF

A complaint about the finance itself, rather than about your information, goes to Jigsaw Finance Limited first and then to the Financial Ombudsman Service. You can check Jigsaw Finance Limited on the Financial Conduct Authority's register at register.fca.org.uk under firm reference number 679612.

11. Under eighteens

Appointments are for over eighteens only, which is why the form asks for a date of birth and refuses a date that makes you younger. This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly hold a child's information. If you think we have, tell us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change actually affects what happens to your information, rather than fixing a comma, we will say so here and, where it matters enough, tell you directly.
